CHECKLIST
Cords and Power Points
Have you ever done your own electrical work or fixed faulty
electrical appliances?
Are any of your power points damaged, cracked or coming away from
the wall?
Do you have any electrical cords that are frayed or damaged?
Do any of your cords have plugs with broken or missing pins?
Do you have any cords under rugs or in areas where they could be
tripped over?
Do you have multiple double adapters in power points or power
boards?
If you have answered Yes to any of
these questions, you should have a licensed electrical contractor
check the faulty appliances, wiring or power points.
Never consider doing any electrical work yourself.
Appliances
Do you leave the power on while plugging and unplugging appliances?
Do you use electrical appliances with wet hands or whilst standing
in water or on a damp floor?
Do you leave appliances out and plugged in after use in the
bathroom?
Do you clean electrical appliances with the power left on?
If you have answered Yes to any of
these questions, you should read the safety information and carefully
and consider changing your approach.
Outdoor
When moving ladders and equipment around the yard do you take
particular care to look out for overhead powerlines?
When digging holes in the garden do you check for underground
services?
Do you get a professional tree trimmer to trim trees near powerlines?
Have you checked that all electrical appliances are a safe distance
from your pool?
Do you check for overhead powerlines before flying kites?
If you have answered No to any of these questions, you should
read the safety information carefully and consider changing your
approach.
Safety Equipment
Do you have a safety switch installed?
Do you check your safety switch regularly every three months?
Do you have a surge protector to protect your valuable sensitive
electrical appliances?
Do you have an Aurora Energy Cable PI device plugged in and turned
on at all times?
Do you have mains connected smoke detectors installed?
Do you have a fire blanket or fire extinguisher?
Have they been tested recently?
If you answered
No to any of the
questions above, you should consider your family’s safety and have
these vital pieces of safety equipment installed in your home.
